OUR BIG RED TRUCK
The Outback College of Hospitality Trade Training Centre journey began in 2011, and is more affectionately known as the 'Big Red Truck'. The Big Red Truck was designed to increase the number of students who achieved a vocational qualification in their secondary schooling. The Big Red Truck currently delivers the Certificate II in Hospitality over our five cluster schools across the Central West - Aramac, Barcaldine, Blackall, Longreach and Winton.
Whilst the core business of the Big Red Truck is training our students in the art of 'hospitality', the Big Red Truck also offers local and regional communities the opportunity to hire this exceptional resource for functions and large events. Every effort is made to align these events with student involvement in various capacities, to both challenge and extend their knowledge and skill base and fulfil course requirements.
Such events have included.
- 2017 – Big Red Rally Aramac
- 2018 – Arthur Beetson Regional NRL final Blackall
- 2019 – Blackall Show girl luncheon
- 2021 – Westech Barcaldine
- 2022 – Channel Country Ladies Day, Windorah
- 2022 – Festival of Outback, Winton
The Big Red Truck is an asset to all of us in the Central West and an educational resource that has truly value-added to our young people's futures and subsequently our regional communities of the outback.
